Consultation on potential ban of live exports of animals for slaughter

The government has launched a call for evidence for a potential ban on the live export of animals for slaughter once the UK leaves the EU. It will also look at higher welfare standards for live animal movements. The government says it would prefer animals to be slaughtered close to the point of production. The consultation closes on the 22 May 2018
