The Tenant Farmers Association (TFA) has joined with the National Farmers Union (NFU)in challenging Defra into greater proactivity to address the consequences of this year’s summer drought conditions.
TFA Chief Executive, George Dunn said “The challenges facing livestock and dairy farmers remain acute. The lack of fodder availability is going to make the coming winter really tough and financially draining. Farmers will need the maximum flexibility within CAP schemes and the wider regulatory framework to make use of available fodder and manage water use. Specific help to source, transport and finance stocks of fodder may also be needed”.
