Defra publishes information about two Countryside Stewardship Grants

Posted by Brian Maxwell on August 9th 2019 in AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL AFFAIRS .

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has published information about two Countryside Stewardship grants.

The facilitation fund grant application window opened on 5 August.

The facilitation fund grants money to help a group of farmers or land managers work together to improve the natural environment at a landscape scale rather than single-farm scale. The fund window opened on 5 August and closes on 4 October 2019.

A manual to guide applicants for woodland creation grants is now available for schemes operating since 10 September 2018.

The woodland creation grant is a capital grant for farmers and land managers to create woodland by planting and protecting trees over a 2-year timeframe. It is possible to also apply for a woodland maintenance grant for 10 years after that to cover ongoing maintenance. Defra have published a manual guiding applicants through the paperwork and obligations for all schemes running from 10 September 2018. There is also a link to guidance for older schemes.
