Government publishes guidance on stopping harmful weeds

Posted by Mark Carlisle on June 3rd 2019 in AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL AFFAIRS .

On 20 May 2019, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has published guidance on stopping, disposing and reporting spreading harmful weeds on land that are used for grazing livestock or growing crops.

The guidance involves preventing ragwort (an injurious weed) by referring to the Code of Practice on How to Prevent the Spread of Ragwort, which informs landowners on how to control ragwort. It also discusses how to control harmful weeds, gives instructions on disposing harmful weeds whether it will be on-site or off-site, provides information on when to report harmful weeds to Natural England (NE).
